Renault Talisman is getting ready for the mid-cycle refreshments. The test prototype was spied cruising down in South Europe. Thanks to the latest spy photos, we can see minor exterior upgrades on the 2021 Renault Talisman. We must say the prototype doesn’t look different than the current model.
However, the new Renault Talisman will surely introduce further upgrades. That includes a turbocharged gasoline engine and further interior upgrades. Renault is very unpredictable. We waited for redesigned Kadjar and Clio models for so long. Renault delivered basically nothing new. The same story continues with the Talisman.
2021 Renault Talisman Comes With Numerous Changes
Just like the recently-spied Megane hatchback, the 2021 Renault Talisman was also caught on the camera. The prototype wears camouflage on some parts, especially up front. That clearly suggest numerous updates on the front fascia. From what we’ve seen, the L-shaped LED strips are no longer available.
The radiator grille is slightly larger and lower bumper got new trims. Grille now sports horizontal bars. Headlights will stay intact. In the back, the taillights are getting more details and new internal graphics. On top of that, the rear bumper is tweaked as well. Talisman will ride on the same CMF-CD platform that underpins Renault Escape MPV model. Unlike Laguna model, Talisman does not feature a 5-door variant but it comes with lower ride height.
On the same spy photos, we can see some camouflage from the inside. That strongly suggests further interior upgrades. However, we don’t expect any significant change. The 2021 Renault Talisman will continue with the same interior design and interior layout. Changes will happen on the center console and the dashboard. On top of that, new decoration options are visible.
We expect Renault to deliver the newest infotainment system. Most of the upgrades will be visual. That also includes lighter interior colors such as grey. The current model offers a black dashboard that will be gone now. French carmaker could introduce lighter upholstery colors as well. We still don’t know if Talisman will offer more standard equipment.
2021 Renault Talisman Powertrain
Under the hood, Talisman did suffer numerous changes in last few years. The 2021 Renault Talisman will offer numerous drivetrain options. After all, this engine is available in Europe and South Korea. In Korea, Talisman is available under the name “Renault Samsung”. Talisman and Samsung won’t offer the same engine lineup. Whatsoever, diesel variants weren’t available in Korea. However, that will change.
Knowing that the 2021 Talisman comes with numerous options. Everything starts with a 2.0-liter turbodiesel that generates 200 horses and 295 lb-ft of torque. Also, a 1.8-liter TCe is producing 225 HP. The 1.6-liter turbodiesel variant is not available anymore.
Price and Release Date
The price of the 2021 Renault Talisman won’t be increased drastically. That means the all-new sedan will cost between $22,000 and $25,000. Sales of the Talisman are far from satisfying. This sedan lacks behind other European rivals such as VW Passat or Skoda Superb. However, its availability in South Korea certainly helps. The 2021 Talisman will go on sale next fall.
