The biggest change of the approaching 2020 Renault Clio RS will happen under the hood. While this hatch will still use a 1.6-liter four-cylinder unit as a standard, the French carmaker decides to give it’s the latest model more power. The standard unit produces up to 197 HP and it uses a 6-speed dual-clutch transmission. Furthermore, the new engine under the hood is a 1.8-liter turbocharged four-cylinder unit. This drivetrain can be found inside the Alpine A110 sports car.
Moreover, Renault already gave this engine to the Megane RS model. The plan is to do the same with the arriving Clio RS, however, while Megan’s engine makes up to 280 HP, Clio’s drivetrain will generate 220 HP.
The 1.8-liter engine is also capable of producing 210 lb-ft of torque. Those numbers are some serious jump from the latest Clio RS. Whatsoever, top-range Trophy version will get even more power for sure, however, we are yet to find out the exact car specs. Fuel economy is another mystery, for now, however, there will be no drastic change in that department.

The upcoming 2020 Renault Clio RS will cost around $28,000. Just like every other Clio before, the sale will happen in September, so we’ll have to wait a whole year for this hatchback to come out.
