The production of the new generation of the popular crossover has just started and we expect that the first examples of the new 2022 Nissan Pathfinder will arrive in showrooms pretty soon. The new generation brings a lot of changes and we have no doubt it will be a notably better vehicle than before. Even though the platform remains the same, there are significant updates, whether it’s about mechanics or aesthetics.
Naturally, the first you’ll notice is a completely new styling, which looks great. Interior changes are as impressive and the new model looks way better than before. Naturally, it also includes lots of tech features, which make everything look even more upscale. Finally, there are big changes under the hood, considering that the CVT has been replaced with an automatic transmission.
2022 Nissan Pathfinder Redesign
As we’ve just mentioned, the new generation bring s a lot of changes but some things remain the same. This particularly refers to the architecture, considering that we are talking about the same old D platform. The wheelbase remains the same, 114.2 inches, but the suspension and chassis setups are completely new, which means a completely new driving experience. We expect it will remain on the comfort side, but better handling would definitely be great to see.
What’s completely new is the styling. Compared to the outgoing model, things look way better. The new 2022 Nissan Pathfinder looks bolder and adopts a lot of details from the updated Armada. At the front, you can notice similarly designed headlights, while the rest of the face follows that combination o futuristic and bold elements. The rear end also looks impressive and we can say that Nissan has done a really good job with designing this large SUV.
Big things happened on the inside as well. There is a completely new cabin, highlighted by a new dashboard. Everything looks way more upscale than before, especially if we consider the materials and overall build quality. The center stack is particularly attractive, thanks to a large tablet-like touchscreen and a massive console between the driver and passenger.
You may count on a pretty long list of tech goodies in this model. Standard models will come with a digital instrument cluster, as well as a 9-inch touchscreen. The list of tech options should include goodies like a Wi-Fi hotspot, a wireless smartphone charging pad, a SiriusXM satellite radio, a head-up display, and an in-dash navigation system.
Considering that the new model features the same wheelbase as its predecessor, we expect to see a pretty similar amount of passenger and cargo room. This means two pretty spacious rows of seats and the third row that’s quite typical for the segment.
2022 Nissan Pathfinder Engine
When it comes to the engine, you may count on the same 3.5-liter unit, which puts out around 284 horsepower and 259 pound-feet of torque. On the other side, a big change comes in terms of transmission, considering that the CVT will be replaced with a 9-speed automatic gearbox. That’s a pretty big change that will significantly change the character of the SUV. The driving experience should be much better, while another thing we expect to see is improvement in terms of towing capacity. For reference, the outgoing model can tow up to 6.000 pounds.
When it comes to fuel economy, we don’t expect that ratings will be significantly different compared to the previous generation. This would mean around 20 mpg in the city and 27 mpg on the highway.
2022 Nissan Pathfinder Release Date and Price
We expect that the 2022 Nissan Pathfinder will hit showrooms in the next couple of weeks. When it comes to the price, base models should go around 33.000 dollars.
