The pickup truck market is pretty tough these days but the Navara remains relevant, even though the current generation has been on the market for nearly seven years. Simply, things aren’t changing that fast on the truck market, while this truck has always been characterized by a couple of class-exclusive features. After the last year’s refresh, we are pretty sure that the current generation will remain in production for a few more years. Also, we expect that the 2022 Nissan Navara will feature no bigger changes.
You may count on a pickup that still has a couple of great things to offer. We like its efficient engine and we particularly like its ride quality, which is mainly the product of rear suspension design. At the same time, this truck is as capable as any other truck on the market.
Since there are no bigger changes to come for the next year, we presume that the 2022 Nissan Navara will hit the market sometime late in the year.
2022 Nissan Navara Redesign
As we’ve just mentioned, the current generation has been around for about seven years. However, it still feels competitive in every aspect. One of the reasons is the use of a good-old F-Alpha platform, which provides a great balance between ride quality and capability. Despite the age, this truck features a pretty advanced, multi-link rear suspension, which provides a really smooth ride, something you wouldn’t expect from a pickup truck. At the same time, the truck is as capable as any other rival and can tow up to 3.5 tons.
In terms of the styling, the last year’s update has brought a couple of novelties, so the 2022 Nissan Navara should carry on in the same way. We saw a new face, with a new grille and bumper, which now looks bolder than before. Furthermore, there are several more updated details, so we are pretty sure that the next year’s model won’t bring anything interesting.
The same thing goes for interior design. The recent update has brought a new infotainment system, with a bigger 8-inch touchscreen and smartphone integration goodies like Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Other than that, things have remained the same, so we presume that the 2022 Nissan Navara will also continue with a familiar cabin layout.
This interior seems quite typical for a pickup truck. The dashboard is simple and features mostly hard plastics. On the other side, it is perfectly functional and seems really durable. You can choose between different cab styles and pick models with single or two rows of seats.
2022 Nissan Navara Engine
Things under the hood definitely won’t change for the next year. The 2022 Nissan Navara is about to carry on with a familiar 2.3-liter turbodiesel from Renault, which comes in two output variants. Base models use a version with 160 horsepower, which you can also opt for an upgraded version with 190 horsepower. In both cases, performances are pretty good and the max towing capacity goes up to 3.5 tons.
The ride of this pickup is incredibly smooth. Of course, one of the reasons is the rear suspension, while another reason we should mention is the transmission. We are talking about a 7-speed automatic, which shifts smoothly and pretty much on time. If you prefer manuals, there is also a 6-speed unit on the offer.
In some parts of the world, you can also get a version with a good-old 2.5-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine, which puts out around 150 horsepower.
2022 Nissan Navara Release Date and Price
We expect to see 2022 Nissan Navara sometime in the last quarter of the year. The base price in Europe should go around 33.000 euros, while the Australian model should start at around $27,150. Key rivals are models like Isuzu D-Max, Toyota Hilux, Ford Ranger etc.
