The Leaf has always been considered one of the most important models in the last decade. Not only that it was one of the first all-electric cars ever made, but it was also the first EV that managed to become a mainstream car and mark some pretty impressive results. In today’s market, things are much different than before and the competition is getting tougher every day. Still, the current, second-generation model is still a relevant player on the market and still feels quite fresh. This includes the long-range version too, so we presume that the 2022 Nissan Leaf Plus will remain pretty much the same.

All these things mean that you may count on a familiar layout. This model has a lot of great things to offer. It offers pretty decent performance and a respectable max range. Furthermore, it looks great and comes with a pretty nice interior, which is also pretty spacious and comfortable. Also, the list of standard equipment is pretty long.

Considering that there are no significant changes to come, we expect that the 2022 Nissan Leaf Plus will hit the market sometime late in the year.

2022 Nissan Leaf Plus Performance

Despite that electric vehicles are pretty much a common thing on the road these days, their performance is still the first thing potential buyers want to check, so we will start with this aspect of the car. The 2022 Nissan Leaf Plus is a long-range version of this hatchback, which comes with a bigger battery and more power than the standard model. In numbers, you may count on about 215 horsepower, which is more than enough to provide respectable acceleration and overall performance.

When it comes to the battery, you may count on a 62-kWh package, which provides pretty decent autonomy. This hatchback can make around 224 miles on a single charge. Of course, you can charge the battery in different ways. This includes a household outlet, Level 2 public charger and a fast DC charger.

2022 Nissan Leaf Plus Redesign

When we compare the current and first-generation models, improvements in terms of performance are huge. However, improvements in terms of design are even more impressive. That’s particularly noticeable when it comes to the styling, which looks really impressive now. Practically, it is hard to find a bigger difference between this model and regular gasoline-powered Nissans. Simply, the Leaf follows the brand’s latest design language and features a familiar V-Motion grille and a typical hatchback body layout. The current generation has been around for a couple of years and still looks fresh. So, we have no doubt that the 2022 Nissan Leaf Plus will continue in the same way. Still, there is always room for smaller updates in terms of new color options and other visual tweaks.

Mechanical changes definitely won’t happen and that definitely isn’t a bad thing. This hatchback is comfortable and easy to drive. The acceleration is strong, though we have to say that handling could be more precise. Still, we have no doubt that most drivers won’t mind this.

Interior

When it comes to the interior design, the Leaf is pretty much a typical EV story. In order to make it more affordable, Nissan has brought an interior design that may look attractive but doesn’t deliver build quality and materials we used to see from Nissan models. Still, a very long list of tech goodies makes the cabin look much nicer.

What’s more important, this hatchback is pretty spacious. With nearly 107 inches in wheelbase, there is no doubt that both rows of seats can offer enough room to accommodate adults. Furthermore, the cargo area is also quite spacious and offers around 23.6 cubic feet of cargo room behind the Leaf’s rear seats and 30 cubic feet with the rear seats folded down.

Features

The current model comes standard with goodies like an 8-inch touch screen, voice recognition, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, satellite radio, Bluetooth, three USB ports, and a four-speaker stereo. Also, there are optional tech features like navigation, a six-speaker stereo, and a seven-speaker Bose premium audio system.

When it comes to safety, there are standard features like a rearview camera, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, pedestrian detection, blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, rear parking sensors, automatic high-beam headlights, and rear door alert. Furthermore, you can pay extra for things like adaptive cruise control, a surround-view parking camera system, driver attention alert, and ProPilot Assist.

The 2022 Nissan Leaf Plus may come with a couple of changes but most of these things will remain the same.
