After the last year’s refresh, we are pretty sure that the 2022 Nissan Armada will come without more significant updates. The current generation has been around since 2016 and we expect it will remain in production for a few more years. That clearly indicates that anything but additions to the list of standard equipment would be a real surprise.
So, what can we expect from the 2022 Nissan Armada? We may count on a familiar layout, which now offers much more attractive styling, as well as on a nicer cabin. This SUV is good to drive and offers solid driving dynamics. Furthermore, the cabin is spacious and features quite impressive quality. Also, we like the long list of standard safety features. On the other side, the things you probably won’t like are poor fuel economy and tight third row, while most rivals also offer a smoother ride.
Considering that no bigger changes should come for the next year, the launch date should be scheduled for the last quarter of 2021.
2022 Nissan Armada Design
Despite that the current generation has been around since 2016, the actual design of this vehicle is much older. It is nothing more than a re-badged version of the current-generation Patrol, which has been around since 2010. Despite the age, handling and the overall ride quality are pretty impressive, even though we are talking about a good-old F-Alpha platform.
Last year, we saw a massive refresh, which has brought completely new styling, among other changes. Of course, the biggest updates are at the front, where we can see a more prominent and more massive grille, C-shaped headlights and other details that make this SUV look way better. For the next year, styling changes are not expected. We might see a couple of new color options in the offer but anything more than that would be a real surprise.
The last year’s refresh has also brought nice interior novelties. We saw a new infotainment screen and a redesigned center console. All this provides a more attractive appearance but besides great aesthetics, this cabin also offers fine materials and great build quality.
The cabin is also spacious. The front seats have plenty of room and they are massive and supportive, definitely among the best in the class. The second row also offers plenty of space, though we can’t say the same for the third row. Although it’s not cramped, rivals like Chevy Tahoe and Ford Expedition offer more room for passengers in the last row.
When it comes to the cargo area, you may count on about 16.5 cubic feet of space behind its third-row seats, 49.9 cubic feet with the third row folded, and 95.4 cubic feet with all the rear seats folded. Those are quite respectable numbers for the class.
After the recent update that has also brought a lot of novelties in terms of features, we presume that the 2022 Nissan Armada will come with a pretty similar list of standard and available equipment. Therefore, base models should come with goodies like dual-zone climate control, a 12.3-inch touch screen, navigation, a six-speaker stereo, satellite radio, wireless device charging, Bluetooth, USB ports, a Wi-Fi hot spot, Android Auto, and wireless Apple CarPlay. You can also get upgrades in terms of the moonroof, remote start, 13-speaker Bose audio system and a rear-seat entertainment system.
When it comes to safety, all models will come standard with goodies like forward collision warning, pedestrian detection, forward and reverse automatic emergency braking, driver drowsiness monitoring, adaptive cruise control, vehicle exit warning, blind-spot monitoring, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, rear cross traffic alert, front and rear parking sensors, and a rearview camera. There are also options like a surround-view parking camera system, traffic sign recognition, and a rearview mirror camera.
2022 Nissan Armada Engine
This aspect definitely won’t bring changes. The 2022 Nissan Armada will continue with the good-old 5.6-liter V8. It puts out around 400 horsepower and 413 pound-feet of torque. It comes in pair with a 7-speed automatic transmission and the whole package works pretty well. Moreover, driving dynamics seem pretty impressive, considering that this large SUV needs just six seconds to hit 60 mph.
On the other side, the price you have to pay for genuine V8 performance is poor fuel economy. This engine returns around 14 mpg in the city and 20 mpg on the highway. Those are some of the lowest ratings in the segment.
2022 Nissan Armada Release Date and Price
We expect that the 2022 Nissan Armada will hit the market sometime late in the year. The starting price currently goes around 49.000 dollars and we don’t believe that things could change for the next year. Also, the competition will certainly remain the same, with models like Chevy Tahoe, Ford Expedition, Toyota Sequoia etc.
