The best-selling Nissan’s pickup truck will get significant changes in the near future. The 2021 Nissan Frontier will arrive with plenty of updates. The 2020 model will hit the dealerships very soon, but only with minor upgrades. For that reason, the 2021 Frontier will get an overhaul. That includes a much better appearance, new engine, and new transmission.
On the other hand, the platform will stay intact. Interestingly, this model outsold the Titan model and now is ready to rival new models from Ford and Jeep. The mid-size segment will be the most exciting pickup segment, no doubt about it. Ford Ranger and Jeep Gladiator will arrive next year as well.
2021 Nissan Frontier Offers New Grille and New Headlights
After years of waiting, the 2021 Nissan Frontier will finally get a more futuristic look. While we are waiting for the official details, Nissan confirmed this. The redesign is about to happen. The platform will remain, but Frontier will slightly grow in size. Some reports were suggesting new Navara’s platform. That won’t happen, at least now in the near future.
That means the rear axle and leaf springs will remain. The design looks more aggressive and the front end will get a new grille and new headlights. At the back, new taillights and new rear bumper will be introduced. 16-inch alloy wheels will remain standard but we can expect new optional rims. Also, new exterior paints will be available.
The interior is also getting a new design. Only a couple of features and cues will remain. The 2021 Nissan Frontier will offer a subtle but modern cabin. Nissan will look to apply the interior design of the company’s SUVs and sedans. The new interior layout may confuse you in the beginning. However, the layout of the controls definitely looks better than before. The Japanese manufacturer will improve the level of comfort.
The cabin is quieter and more practical. King Cab and Crew Cab configurations will be in the offer for sure. However, we still don’t know if Nissan will deliver some other body styles. Leather upholstery is optional on the base 2021 Frontier. However, the company is focusing on the base model that will gain more luxury than ever before.
Despite all of the exterior and interior changes, the new engine is the most significant change. Frontier will ditch its current 4.0-liter V6. This engine is outdated and it comes with an aging 5-speed transmission.
For that reason, a new V6 engine that produces over 300 horsepower will become available. On top of that, Nissan will offer a brand-new 7-speed automatic gearbox. New powertrain will be standard and it will tow up to 6,500 pounds. Moreover, Nissan promised better fuel economy.
2021 Nissan Frontier Price and Release Date
Frontier is now the best-selling company’s pickup truck. This mid-size pickup outsold the Titan model in the previous year. One of the main reasons is Frontier’s affordable price. Interestingly, Frontier is the only mid-size pickup in the segment that starts below $30,000.
New 2021 Nissan Frontier will cost $29,000. New design, engine, and transmission will help Frontier pickup to rival its biggest competitors. Speaking of that, Jeep Gladiator and Ford Ranger will go on sale next year as well. The 2021 Frontier will hit the dealerships in the fall of 2020.
