Nissan is willing to celebrate its performance tradition once again later this year. We’ve already seen one 50th Anniversary Edition, the 350Z model. Now, the 2020 Nissan GT-R will get its 50th Anniversary Edition. The famous GT-R is 50 years old, believe it or not. The sporty coupe will get the same anniversary treatment as the 370Z model.

That includes a two-tone exterior scheme, bolder stripers, new colors, and some new features. New GT-R looks very sporty and unique. Most of the updates are visual, while the interior won’t suffer that much upgrades. However, some mechanical changes will happen. On the other hand, if you want improved performance, opt for the GT-R Nismo variant.

It is yet unclear if the Anniversary Edition comes as an appearance package. Whatsoever, the 2020 Nissan GT-R will arrive with a two-tone exterior treatment. The bright blue color is iconic for the Skyline model and new GT-R will wear it as well. Blue exterior paint is paired with the bolder white stripe.

Also, blue accents can be found on the wheels. On top of that, expect additional badging. Even a three-color combination is available. But more importantly, Nissan will return the famous Bayside Blue paint. The customers can pick between the red, white and silver stripes as well. We can expect even more sportiness from the arriving model. Aerodynamics are improved and new GT-R will look impressive.

Interior Changes and Updates

We are not sure about the interior updates. Not all of the details are available yet. The 2020 Nissan GT-R comes with quite astonishing cabin design. The 50th Anniversary Edition will surely improve the design a little more. For now, we know the gray color scheme is available.

Also, Nissan will offer a new and very unique steering wheel. Besides that, expect new shift know, sun visors and Alcantara upholstery. The dash will stay intact and GT-R will offer the same 8-inch display. The number of buttons is additionally decreased. Nissan Connect system is updated and we can expect plenty of standard features.

Powertrain Specs

Even if the 50th Anniversary Edition arrives as an appearance package, Nissan will improve its performance. The 2020 Nissan GT-R will offer a 3.8-liter V6 turbocharged unit. Performance is rated at 565 HP while the Nismo variant will offer up to 600 HP. New turbocharges will increase the fuel economy and overall engine efficiency. Downshifts are now more aggressive and Nissan will deliver a tweaked suspension.

With new suspension, GT-R offers better stability, especially in the corners. Generally, the ride is better and comfier. Handling is superb and new titanium muffler and blue exhaust tips are available in the back. Powerful V6 delivers 465 lb-ft of torque and it comes with a 6-speed dual-clutch transmission.

Price and Release Date

The upcoming 2020 Nissan GT-R will become available later this year. All of the variants are additionally updated and that includes the high-performance Nismo model.

The price of the 50th Anniversary Edition is not available yet. However, we don’t expect the price below $100,000. Have in mind that the Nismo variant will cost over $150,000.
