It’s been a quite long time since we’ve seen the last version of this SUV. Internationally known as Pajero, this model was pretty much a renamed version, offered in North America. In the past couple of years, we’ve been hearing a lot of stories about Pajero’s redesign, but some reports also suggest this model might come back to North America as well, like the 2021 Mitsubishi Montero. Of course, it is just a rumor at the moment but there is no doubt there a number of reasons that make us believe this could happen after all. At this point, we can only rely on rumors, so take the following paragraphs with a big reserve.
2021 Mitsubishi Montero Redesign
As you probably know, Mitsubishi has recently become a part of the Renault Nissan Alliance and that fact plays a very important role in the potential new version of this SUV. Simply, it makes perfect sense that the 2021 Mitsubishi Montero will come with a lot of things in common with the new Patrol/Armada. Some sources suggest that the next generations of two models will be developed together and that they would share many design characteristics. This includes many things, including the platform. However, things are a little bit unclear in this aspect, considering that the latest news suggests that Nissan doesn’t plan to replace the F-Alpha platform. Does this mean that the 2021 Mitsubishi Montero is about to switch to the same architecture? It is hard to say at this point.
2021 Mitsubishi Montero Exterior and Interior
Considering that the last redesign happened in 2006, it’s not hard to presume that the possible comeback would bring a completely new design. The 2021 Mitsubishi Montero could feature the same mechanics as the Patrol, but we have no doubt it would come with its ows sheet metal. At this point, we can’t say for sure, but if the new model is about to come, it could be significantly bigger compared to the previous version. Of course, a new styling seems like a natural thing. We may presume the new model would feature a styling that heavily relies on the brand’s latest design language. Of course, all these aesthetical solutions should come in a much more rugged manner, given the fact that we are talking about a body-on-frame vehicle.
When it comes to interior design, it is hard to talk about details at this point. Still, we may presume that the 2021 Mitsubishi Montero will be notably bigger than its predecessor. This also means more space inside. Of course, three rows of seats are a certain thing, while we also count on a completely new dashboard design, as well as on loads of new tech features.
Things are pretty simple here. If the 2021 Mitsubishi Montero is about to share parts with Armada, it will share the powertrain as well. This means we could see the new model equipped with a well-known 5.6-liter V8, which is currently good for about 400 horsepower. Of course, that probably wouldn’t be the only engine option in the offer. We could also see something smaller and more efficient, probably a turbo V6 engine. A 3.0-liter unit that powers many Infiniti models, which comes in variants with 300 and 400 horsepower, sounds like a logical pick.
2021 Mitsubishi Montero Release Date and Price
The 2021 Mitsubishi Montero is nothing more than a rumor. So, it doesn’t make any sense to speculate about launch and price. Still, some reports suggest the new model could come already in the next year. If it comes, we presume the base price would probably go around 45.000 dollars.
