In a world where most of the trucks are based on the SUV models, Pajero is one of the SUV models based on the pickup truck. The 2020 Mitsubishi Pajero Sport is one fine example. This SUV is present in Asia and Australia for years now, and it rides on its third-generation. The same generation will remain in 2020, so we can expect mid-cycle refreshments.
New images are showing as a facelifted Pajero that was caught on-road testing in Sweden. This body-on-frame SUV, also known as Shogun and Montero will continue to ride on the same platform as the L200/Triton pickup. The 2020 Pajero Sport looks rugged and it offers three rows of seats. The interior will be more upscale now and the exterior will get new LED taillights and a couple of more updates.
2020 Mitsubishi Pajero Sport Redesign
The all-new 2020 Mitsubishi Pajero Sport will host numerous exterior upgrades. Unfortunately, most of the updates will be only on the front of this model. This SUV will retain its rugged appearance, however, the styling now looks more modern and appealing.
The truck-based SUV now sports a similar face as the current L200 pickup truck. That includes a new set of headlamps, restyled grille, and more aggressive front bumper. In the back, new LED taillights are in the offer. Mitsu will surely deliver more exterior upgrades that are not visible at the moment.
2020 Mitsubishi Pajero Sport Interior Is Comfortable And Techy
The 2020 Mitsubishi Pajero Sport is based on the L200 pickup truck, however, the interior is closer to the Mitsu’s lineup of sedans. The cabin is inviting and very comfortable. Interior now host more soft materials, especially on the armrests, floor and center console.
The carmaker didn’t specify any interior details for the 2020 model. Even the spy shots are giving us zero clues about the potential upgrades from the inside. However, the Pajero Sport SUV will surely get more safety aids and driver-assistance features. That includes rear cross traffic alert, blind spot warning, multi around the monitor and forward collision mitigation. The three-row layout will remain and new Pajero Sport won’t offer better legroom and headroom. The cabin can accommodate up to seven passengers and the customers can choose between the three and five-door models. The design is upscale but the only range-topping trim level is offering real luxury.
2020 Mitsubishi Pajero Sport Engine And Driving Modes
According to reliable sources, the Mitsubishi Pajero Sport won’t get a new engine. That means the 2.4-liter turbodiesel will be available once again. The same engine can be found under the hood of the L200 pickup truck. In the UK, this model is available under the name Shogun Sport.
Shogun Sport is using the very same drivetrain that is producing 178 horsepower and 317 lb-ft of torque. The 8-speed automatic transmission is available, along with the four-wheel-drive that is optional. The new model will most likely get new driving modes which include settings for terrains such as Gravel, Sand, Rock and Mud/Snow.
