The 2019 Mitsubishi Galant is a sedan that started its journey as a concept back in 2013. It is a sophisticated car that will ride on a gasoline and diesel engines, and even hybrid drivetrain is available.
Galant shares plenty of styling cues with some other Mitsubishi’s vehicles and it takes a very sporty stance. Dimensionally, this sedan is the same as the Honda Accord and Toyota Camry, which means larger than most of the competitors. We expect the 2019 Galant to go on sale next year.
2019 Mitsubishi Galant will ride on a high-strength steel chassis
The exterior of an all-new 2019 Mitsubishi Galant looks appealing and upscale. The dimensions are slightly larger for the sedan’s segment and this car will ride on a high-strength steel chassis instead of aluminum chassis that was shown in concept. However, steel chassis makes more cabin space than the aluminum one.
The front grille is trimmed in chrome and it will come in trapezoidal shape. Moreover, the grille matches the bumper’s graphics while the body colored bumper is optional. A single crease runs on each side from the headlights to the rear bumper. The rear also adds integrated exhaust pipes and the LED taillights are looking square.
2019 Mitsubishi Galant interior
The 2019 Mitsubishi Galant will share a similar interior to the Mitsubishi Outlander interior. So, we can expect a high-mounted central display with piano-black inserts. Down low, a climate control is paired with the cup holders and gearstick.
Most of the controls are made of quality plastic materials and overall, Galant offers a great comfort. The seats are in cloth and the cabin can accommodate up to five persons.
The safety is much better with the latest addition of the active cruise control and forward collision warning. The space behind the rear seats is ample for the sedan segment, however, hybrid models will offer less space because of PHEV battery. Leather seats, power sunroof, and premium audio system are all optional.
2019 Mitsubishi Galant engine output and acceleration
The upcoming 2019 Mitsubishi Galant offers three engine choices. The U.S. market will see a gasoline 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine as a standard. Furthermore, this unit produces 166 HP and it uses a CVT automatic and it hits from 0 to 60 mph in 9.1 seconds. Fuel economy is 31 mpg combined.
The rest of the world’s markets will use a 3.0-liter V6 that can produce up to 224 HP. This drivetrain is available with the 6-speed automatic gearbox, and it sprints from 0 to 60 mph in 7.5 seconds. Both engines are offering an all-wheel-drive configuration.
Hybrid model rumors
A hybrid powertrain will be also on offer. However, it will see its first production later next year. Mitsubishi will likely borrow the technology from the i-MiEV model so we can expect both mild hybrid and full plug-in versions.
2019 Mitsubishi Galant price and release date
Latest Mitsubishi’s sedan will cost $22,000 and it could go up to over $30,000. While the most of the world’s markets will see the 2019 Mitsubishi Galant by the end of the year, the U.S. dealerships will have to wait for the next summer.
