Infiniti has some big plans for the future. The carmaker plans to provide very significant changes to all of its models. Models such as Q50, Q60, and Q70 will be one of the first that will suffer drastic changes. As you may know, Infiniti is working on the new electrified platform. The 2021 Infiniti Q50 is the first model that will deploy this architecture.
The platform will switch to a standard all-wheel-drive system and it will come with an electric powertrain. Besides the next-gen platform, Infiniti Q50 will get a new infotainment system. We can expect better performances, better comfort, and better ride quality. As always before, this sedan will become available on a global level. Furthermore, Red Sport 400 version will continue with the production.
2021 Infiniti Q50 Changes
Infiniti’s future lineup of sedans will get numerous upgrades. Whatsoever, we are not talking about the design. Sure, some design changes will happen, but those changes are far from significant. The only notable upgrade will be a new grille that looks sharper and is slightly larger. Headlights, taillights, wheels, and bumpers will mostly remain. However, the 2021 Infiniti Q50 will get the all-new platform.
Infiniti is working on ways to improve all of its models. The Q50 sedan will ride on new underpinnings that will be able to accommodate an electric powertrain. Also, the new architecture will deploy an all-wheel-drive setup as standard. The high-performance Red Sport 400 version will be available as well, probably with further design changes.
Cabin Will Get A New Infotainment System
Even the interior will get some drastic changes. The cabin will remain luxurious and modern. However, the current sedan lineup lacks some features and systems. Infiniti is working on the all-new infotainment system. This system will arrive in 2021. For that reason, the 2021 Q50 will hit the markets with a new infotainment system.
This system will finally support Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Also, it will act quickly and it will get a new 9-inch display. Besides that, Infiniti will most likely offer more standard features. We expect a new audio system and satellite navigation to become available in 2021. The manufacturer plans to improve the comfort and ride quality. No doubt, the 2021 Q50 sedan will be very exciting.
2021 Infiniti Q50 Engine Specs
For now, the current 2019 model offers a 2.0-liter engine. This engine comes with four-cylinder and a turbocharger. It can produce 210 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque. Also, there is an optional 3.0-liter V6 that returns 300 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of twist. Both drivetrains will carry over in 2020.
However, the 2021 Infiniti Q50 will most likely ditch both units. Thanks to the new platform, Q50 will ride on the electric powertrain. On top of that, the all-wheel-drive system will be standard. Drivetrain specs are not available yet. However, we can expect similar output figures with a significant improvement in mileage.
Price and Release Date
The all-new 2021 Infiniti Q50 will cost slightly more than the current model. After all, a new platform and a new infotainment system are a perfect reason for such a logical move. The upcoming sedan will start at $38,000.
Upper trim levels and hot Red Sport 400 variant will surely cost around $50,000. The 2021 Q50 will go on sale in the second half of 2020.
