The original version of this luxury crossover has been replaced finally, after a decade of production. The original EX came in 2008. Due to new naming policy, the model was renamed to QX50.
Still, the things remained pretty much the same. The car continued with the same design for some time more and it was finally redesigned in late 2017. It was named as a 2019-year model, so it should be on the market for full two years. Changes to the new model are numerous. There is a brand-new design which includes numerous mechanical and visual changes.
The new 2019 QX50 comes with a completely new platform, which includes new engine as well. Mechanical changes are numerous, but there is also a completely new styling, adapted to the brand’s newest design language. The interior design is also completely new and we can see plenty of new technology features as well.
2019 Infiniti QX50 changes
This redesign brings a lot of changes. The new architecture definitely makes this crossover more competitive. It is a little bit shorter, but also wider and taller compared to the original. Also, it features a 2-inch higher ground clearance. Despite it is higher from the ground, the new styling makes it far more attractive. It features all those characteristics of the new design philosophy, including a completely new front end, sharper lines etc.
Changes are numerous on the inside as well. There is a completely new cabin design, characterized not only by new dashboard design but more space for passengers as well. You can also notice new, higher-quality materials and new trim.
Finally, the company has introduced new technologies, including some of the newest driver-assist systems, which are pretty advanced. The list of standard equipment is pretty impressive, a real fully-loaded crossover.
2019 Infiniti QX50 trim levels
When it comes to the trim level organization, there are three versions in the offer.
The base Pure is already full of amazing features. Some of the standard equipment are features like19-inch wheels, dual-zone climate control, simulated leather upholstery, power seats, LED headlights, Bluetooth and USB connectivity, dual-screen infotainment system etc.
A mid-range Luxe trim seems like a great value for the money. It includes all above and adds standard features like a sunroof and LED foglights, as well as safety systems like blind-spot monitoring system etc.
A top-range Essential goes even further. There are things like leather upholstery, three-zone automatic climate control, premium audio system, navigation, a surround-view camera with objects detection, parking sensors and many other things. Finally, there are several standalone options in the offer as well.
2019 Infiniti QX50 engine
One of the most important novelties that came with this redesign is a new engine. Instead of a large and thirsty V6, this crossover now features a far more efficient inline-four powertrain.
It is a 2.0-liter turbo inline-four engine, which is good for about 268 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque. Such great amount of power is sent to wheels by a CVT, and it is enough to provide 0-60 time in 6.5 seconds. Thanks to a great efficiency, fuel economy is also on a high level and goes around 22 mpg in the city and 29 mpg on a highway.
So far, this is the only engine in the offer for 2019 Infiniti QX50. In the future, we will probably see a new hybrid powertrain in the offer, but maybe some additional gasoline unit as well.
2019 Infiniti QX50 price and competition
When it comes to the price, the base model goes around 37.500 dollars. On the other side, top-range models could easily go over 44.000 dollars.
Competition in the segment is pretty tough. There are models like BMW X3, Mercedes GLC, Audi Q5, Acura RDX, Cadillac XT5 etc.
